The Week in Sports 8/13

The end of the sports lull is nearly here. With football preparing for its return, there is sure to be a surge of storylines and poorly-concealed racism each week. Let's get to it.

Ryan Tannehill apparently kicked rookie running-back Kalen Ballage out of the huddle this week after a missed blocking assignment. The Dolphins have told Tannehill to stop doing any kicking of any sort out of fear that he’ll tear his ACL again.

Jalen Ramsey was suspended for 1 game this week after violating the Jaguars’ team policy. It turns out that the suspension was intentional, as Ramsey just wanted to free himself up for his true passion.

There are a lot of stories being floated around about Maryland football coach DJ Durkin after the death of one of his players last week. You can say a lot of things about Durkin, but no one can accuse him of not following through with his goals.

Ramon Laureano showed off his arm on Saturday with an absolute missile to throw out a runner at first base. As if the arm strength wasn’t enough, it was on-the-money, too. Just how impressed were teams with this throw? Laureano has already been promoted to starting QB of the Buffalo Bills.

Chris Sale continued his return from a shoulder injury with a rehab start Saturday against a minor-league team. The best part? It counted as a major-league win.

The city of Cleveland was upset after Isaiah Thomas posted a video where he called the city of Cleveland a “Shithole”. This insult cuts particularly deep, as Cavs fans have never said a bad word about Thomas.

Kawhi Leonard penned his first communication since his trade to the Toronto Raptors with a thank you letter to San Antonio. The note felt generic and left a lot to be desired - this shouldn’t come as a surprise from Leonard, whose favorite book is a Mad Libs that hasn’t been filled out yet.

Steph Curry finished last at the Web.com PGA event and it was evident that it wasn’t his main sport. After finishing last and looking like you’re playing the wrong sport, Curry said he now knows what it feels like to be on the Sacramento Kings.

Stan Van Gundy has described himself as “Lost” in his first summer without a coaching gig. “Now you know how I feel” responded the Cheeto that’s been lost in his stomach flabs since 2014.
