We Can't Judge People On Their Worst Days

But, like, when it comes to appointing a Supreme Court Justice - I think we can. This isn’t some random guy named Brett applying to work in the stock room at a suburban Nevada Staples - this is the freaking Supreme Court. If there are 9 people in this entire country that we appoint to be our guiding light of morality, I feel like we can find 9 that don’t have a history of sexual assault, whether it was 40 minutes ago or 40 years ago. This isn’t something to settle on. It’s not about politics - another nominee could be appointed with the exact same beliefs. It’s about the fact that an American citizen took issue with the fact that someone who (allegedly, for now) sexually assaulted her was on track to become an enforcer of our laws at the highest level, and that didn’t sit right with her. No matter how many years it’s been, all Americans should feel the same way.
